This is one thing that I’ve been waiting for, and this would reduce Piracy because I know some people who download games from Installous to try the games out and if they don’t like it, they delete it. But if they like it, oops, they get hooked on it and “forget” to buy.

The story from 9 to 5 quoted below:

“Apple seems to be adding to and changing up their App Store’s featured sections quite frequently. Today Apple added a new section dedicated to promoting free applications on the App Store. One of the subsections of this new feature is “Try Before You Buy.” This section features many of the popular “free” or “lite” editions of apps, but the section title is what makes this all interesting.

There is a common phrase going around when it comes to app piracy, and that is “trying before buying.” Many people claim they pirate apps to do just that and claim Apple does not offer app trials. Well, Apple and others feel that’s false due to the multitude of “lite” editions on the App Store. Apple pushes that belief with this new section as they are promoting “trying before buying” without pirating.”

My take: If only they could do what Handango do with their software on Nokia, BlackBerry, Android, etc; a certain period of days before it runs out. Also, with this “Try Before You Buy”, I’m pretty sure those App that cost $1 will increase. I know I buy them and if I don’t like it, I just delete it. But $1 adds up, especially if those games you decide to try are all sucked. I’ll be wasting tens or even hundreds of dollars. I know I got so many apps that is no longer on my device.
