What does Square, Jumio and Card.io have in Common? Payment for Small Business. Squareup.com, jumio.com and card.io are enabling you to make payment transaction easier if you have small business. There are more than the three described here, but the three listed here are the cheapest compared to the others since it doesn’t require you to have a monthly fees or monthly requirements. Perfect for small business.I’ve been using Square from squareup.com since they were available for consumer use back in 2010.
Square Fees are 2.75% per transaction, Free Reader and Free App.
Card.io at www.card.io is at 3.5% Fee plus $0.35 per Transaction, No Reader needed, just a compatible Phone with Camera for the iPhone and Android and Free App.
Then there’s Jumio. Much like Card.io Payments, it uses the phone’s camera to capture the credit card to make the transaction. But Jumio can only be use in the following country:
United States, Canada
Europe, Middle East, Africa:
Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Croatia, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Israel, Turkey
Card.io Payments can be use in any country, it doesn’t check on location, and it doesn’t require the transaction to be made with the GSM Chip to be inserted like the standard in Europe. The Square Swiping version wouldn’t work in Europe, but there is no way to try since the transaction can only be made if you are in U.S Soil.
Card.io might be a better choice for those who uses Paypal as their primary payment gateway. So it’s easier to dispense the money to your Bank Account directly. Card.io can also deposit directly to your Bank Account. If Card.io can make transaction base on the Paypal ID or Bank Account Location, that would be even better. Who would want to make a transaction in Dollar if you are in Europe or in China?
Square is actually cheaper per transaction, but since you can only use it in the States, it’s limited. All three accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.
