I am sure there are other games than the ones mentioned below, but these three are worthy of Apple TV use. I am not talking about games that are displayed by just mirroring, these games are designed for Apple TV and your iPad as the controller. Below are the screen shots of what would be on your iPad when you mirror the game to your Apple TV either via AirPlay or HDMI Cable. I did not try the VGA cable.
When the game load for Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, everything was loaded on to the Apple TV. So there was no title on the iPad thus no screen shot of the title. The video was also displayed on the Apple TV automatically.
The video of each games were automatically displayed on to the Apple TV like as if you are playing it on the TV rather than on the iPad. The full experience are there with all of these three games.
To play the game for Air Supremacy is to control your iPad with either Gyro or Screen Controller or both if you want to fully control your rudder with the Gyro, all depends on how you have it setup. I have mine setup with the screen controller. So all I do is just press the right button to shoot, deploy multiple missiles or a single missile launcher button.
To play the game for Real Racing 2 HD, all you have to do is steer like a steering wheel by tilting your iPad left or right and the car will follow suit. The respond are fast, no lag between the iPad controlling the game to the TV.
Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation has the same setup as screen controller rather than Gyro. You can use a combination of the Gyro and screen controller for Gyroscopic Aiming. It was too hard for me, so I had it setup just with the screen controller and that’s it.
Those are the top 3 games to play with your iPad 3 and the Apple TV in 1080i. Have fun.
Bonus: Asphalt 7: Heat (iTunes Link)
