Since the inception of Kindle from Amazon three years ago, it is now one of the reason behind the Kindle Digital Books outselling paperbacks. That didn’t take long, and even though Kindle wasn’t the first to introduce the ebook reader, Amazon did a good job of promoting it on their website. Check out their website at Amazon.com and you will see Kindle as their main Homepage Image. Amazon also made it easy for Kindle users to buy books directly. Much like the iTunes App Store for iPad and iPhone, it’s geared towards impulse buyers, and there are a lot of them out there, I’m included. However, it is more than another device that has an online store built for it, it’s more than an ebook, and it’s definitely more portable if you have the 6 inch Kindle. What can you do with Kindle? If you go out with the Kindle and those who doesn’t know much about the Kindle because they don’t own one has their mind set to Kindle as just an ebook reader. Kindle is bland, e-ink technology, not color, not touch screen and uses navigational button to navigate. Why get a Kindle, or any eReader device? I actually use the Nook and there are a lot of shortcomings with that and other eReader devices. What’s the difference that the Kindle can do that others can’t? Well, to me, it’s the 3G version of the Kindle. Personal Documents Delivered to your Kindle Wirelessly, Sync your read page, shop for books directly on your Kindle, surf the internet with the built-in browser (Experimental and WAP or Mobile site Optimized) and best of all Subscriptions to newspaper. My reasons below, and not in order.

Even though I have the latest generations of iPad, and iPhone, it’s still nice to read on the Kindle. E-Ink technology is easy on the eyes. Readability is one reason.

The ability to sync where you left off between devices. Kindle app on all of my devices such as my BlackBerry Torch, iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPod Touch 4, all can sync where I left off on my other devices. So if I read a book on my iPad, it would sync on my BlackBerry Torch, and so on. The sync function is my second reason.

Surfing the web on the Kindle is not my main reason I got the Kindle, but it’s a nice addition. The Kindle can surf the internet on WAP or Mobile Site optimized, meaning the m version such as m.google.com. It’s a nice addition where if I go anywhere in the world, I can still check my email without the need to pay an extra data subscription. Some of the website prepares a Mobi type of reading that you can download straight to your Kindle that is considered wireless delivery such as Kindlefeeder for offline reading. So it’s a nice addition to have this as my third reason I would keep the using the Kindle.

Personal Documents sent to your Kindle directly. This is an advantage over the other e-reader especially if you are sending it wirelessly. I can send my meeting notes or meeting points in text straight to Kindle over wireless without a PC. Wireless advantage for Personal Document sending is another reason, and my fourth.

Amazon Kindle Store is easy to purchase books directly to your Kindle with WhisperNet. If I go to a book store, which I still do even though I own a Kindle, and browse for books, I like to see if Amazon has them for the Kindle. A lot of the times they do, and it’s cheaper than the paperback too. Reason number five, cheaper, accessible anywhere, and Amazon has more books for Kindle than any ebook stores out there at 400,000+.

Text to Speech, like books on Audio, as simple as that. If you are reading the newspaper and is in a hurry, just turn on Text to Speech, it would read your news to you. Reason number six, and useful for the visually impaired.

Subscription to Newspaper such as New York Times is like having the Newspaper on your door step when you wake up. Instead of getting your Newspaper in your front door, or instead of downloading the Newspaper and wait for the download to finish, Kindle would get that subscription for you automatically. Which means, you wake up at 5am and you want to read the news, well, wait no more, it’s already in your Kindle. Just open it up and read away. Paperless, Waiting-less, Time Saver and best of all, you won’t have that newspaper smell and it’s portable.

Of course when I bought the Kindle I didn’t know what I was getting into. The first generation iPad wasn’t out and I was already holding my first Kindle, 2nd Generation International version. I test it to it’s full extent, searching online for it’s capabilities, and explore My Account in Amazon under “Manage Your Kindle” and since then, I haven’t looked back. I then got the Nook, but I wasn’t happy with it. I did a review of Kindle 2 when I first got it.

If I had to recommend the Kindle to my friends or stranger, I would suggest the Kindle, and my main reason to get the Kindle was the Subscription part for News reading delivered straight to my Kindle without waiting, without downloading, and it’s fast. Second reason is the Personal Document sending wirelessly. I would also suggest to get the 3G version, so you can use it anywhere in the world. I was really close on getting Kindle 3 Wi-fi only, but I’m glad I opted for the 3G version, because I would miss using it fully to my advantage anywhere in the world. Now that the Kindle is cheaper with Special offers of $25 cheaper than original price.
