If
you have decided to jailbreak your iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4, or iPad 1 on iOS 5 tethered and instead, you got a white icon labeled cydia. When you click on the white cydia icon, nothing happened. It looks as if it would crash. Even if you did get it open, there are no sources pre-added, and that you can’t do anything in Cydia even if you got it running. This is usually the case of a jailbreak attempt gone wrong. Somewhere during the process, something didn’t go the way it’s suppose to go, and the white icon cydia is an indication of your unsuccessful jailbreak attempt.
This does not affect how your device though, it would still run as if you didn’t try to attempt the jailbreak, and no matter how many times you try to turn off your device thinking a reset would do the trick, it will not.
The trick is, open redsn0w again, and in this attempt, it would be the version 0.9.9b7 of RedSn0w. Click on Extras and it will take you to another Menu where there is a recovery fix. Click on the Recovery Fix button. It will tell you to click on Next button, but don’t click on Next. Instead, go to DFU mode manually by plugging your device into your computer USB and turn it off by holding the power off button.
After it is plugged in the USB and your device is Off, enter in DFU mode manually. Hold Power Button for 3 seconds, then hold power and home button for 10 seconds, then let go power button while keeping the home button hold for another 15 seconds until RedSn0w automatically starts the jailbreak process.
Your Device should automatically reboot and your Cydia icon will turn to a fruition, regular Cydia icon. That’s it, you’re done.
