I’ve been waiting to jailbreak my new iPad 2 because of the things that is really annoying for me in the way that iOS works and don’t work.
I can’t change my Lock Screen other than the background picture. I can’t change the way the Slider look, it gets boring and usually customization makes the device refreshing. I can vouch for my iPhone which I had for months and it gets boring. How do I remedy this is by installing WinterBoard in Cydia.
Facetime is only allowed to be on Wi-Fi only, I can’t Facetime my friend if I’m away. It’s so nice to Video Call your friends whenever you are in the mood to. I especially love it if I’m in the grocery store and would like to ask the wife if I’m getting the right stuff while she’s at home with the newborn. But I have to install Skype for that instead. Why install another app to do video chat when your phone is built-in for Video Call. How do you fix this fixation you have? I use My3G from Cydia. Though My3G is $3.99, it’s worth it because sometimes I’m away from my home and I like to download a one day only free games while I’m out of Wi-Fi Range.
I use Location Spoof from Cydia to spoof my location. This is just for entertainment only. Just to spoof my friend of my location. The app from Cydia is LocSpoof.
Is there an easier way to make your iPhone as a HotSpot? I know tethering is enabled since iOS 4.2 and Personal Hotspot for iOS 4.3, but what about those with iPhone 3G? Well, you might or might not need this feature since it’s already available on iOS 4.3. But incase you are still using iOS 4.2 or lower, MyWi 4 will be your Personal Hotspot enabler. This is also a paid app.
Sometimes I liked to do a presentation of what is created on my iPad. But it’s not that I want to do a Keynote Presentation or share my Movie with my colleague, I wanted to share an App that is created that is not Video Out Enabled, including the show and tell of the App Icon that is created with that app in the Home Screen. There is no current way to share what you see on your Home Screen on your iPad 1 or iPad 2 with VGA Adapter. You can display what you see on your Home Screen with HDMI Adapter but only with iPad 2. So how do you do it with the VGA Adapter on both the iPad 1 and iPad 2? I installed DisplayOut on Jailbroken iPad 1, not iPad 2. Which works on the iPhone 4 too. DisplayOut will give you a presentation on a projector by using the VGA Adapter of the Home Screen, or your Angry Birds game, or whatever. It’s pretty much an app for WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get).
I carry around a flash drive on my neck, 8Gb to be exact. I use them to transfer on the fly documents that I need to get, or presentation, etc. A lot of the times, I use my iPad so I can leave my laptop at home. I use iFile on Cydia to transfer files to my iPad. The limit for iFile or maybe a limitation of the iPad itself, is 32Gb Flash Drive. I tried my 64Gb Corsair and it doesn’t detect it. Of course, you need the Camera Kit Connection, the one with the USB Plug to use iFile with your iPad. I have that thing Velcro to my BookBook by Twelve South iPad Cover.
For all the stuff above, you need to add a repository to your Cydia Repo. To add a repository, open Cydia, then click on Manage on the bottom of the screen. Click on Sources then click on Edit on the top right button. Click on Add on top left button and enter in with http://
The repository that I have added manually are:
http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com – This is mainly a repo for unlocking your iPhone 4 on 4.2.1 iOS
http://cydia.xsellize.com/ – This is used for my Home Screen customization such as change your Lock Slider Theme or make your clock disappear so you have a bigger estate of your Home Screen in case you really like your Lock Screen. I also use it to change the whole Theme as a package including the Home Screen icons, or have your Home Screen to not just slide sideways to access more of your apps, but you can swipe down as well.
So the customization is to your liking, and art is art. Your phone is you. Enhance it the way you would like. Unfortunately, as of this writing, Jailbreak for iPad 2 is not available yet, at least not for iOS 4.3.2.
