How to Install DEB File or IPA File on your iPad. This is essential if you have a compressed ipa file in deb format. If the file is in deb extenstion, then you can use this method to unzip the file and install the ipa file once it is extracted. You can also use this tip if you have an rogue ipa file laying around and you need to install it to your jailbroken iOS device. This is tested on iOS 5.1.1 on the new iPad and iPhone 4S.
Requirements:
- Your iOS Device must already be jailbroken in order to proceed at least 5.0.1 or 5.1.1
- Download iFile from BigBoss Repo in Cydia
- Must have Hackulous repo in Cydia
- Download Installous from Hackulous
- Not for beginners
If you have not run Installous yet, you should run it now by opening Installous. This will create a Download folder in your iOS Device. The download folder is where you need to place the DEB file or your IPA file.
If you email yourself the DEB/IPA file or you have it in your dropbox, you can open it in iFile by selecting Open In … and select iFile.
It will automatically be placed under a folder called /var/mobile/Documents. From this point, you can follow the images in sequence from the bottom.
Move by Cut to Clipboard from the edit button in iFile on the top right to /var/mobile/Documents/Installous/Downloads/ and from there click on Done and select the DEB file and menus would come out with the option “Installer” and the unzip will begin.
You will see the ipa file extracted. From here, open Installous and click on the Download button in the middle top. You will see the file and click on it to install.
That’s it.
