Flash for iPad

Updated Post July 6th, 2011; Flash on iPad 2 3G and WiFi. Details Below.

Frash for iPad is a hack from Android ported to iPad. I would update you if there’s an update to Frash, currently it’s still in Beta, so I didn’t really expect much from it. The repo information is below:

Update July 6th, 2011: Download Flash for iOS when you search for Frash in Cydia after adding the repo http://repo.benm.at
You might get a hash error, just click on Return to Cydia and try installing it again. If it fails again, it just means your internet is slow to download Frash. Keep on trying until it is successful. Frash will work on Safari only, not the 3rd party browser for iPad 2.

After the install is done, navigate to a website that has Flash content such as Imaginehow.com site. Frash is a hit and miss with Facebook Flash games on the Safari for iPad. So, try it with your heart content since the point of you installing Flash is to hope that you can play Facebook games directly on the iPad Internet Browser. Right? :)

Once you navigate to a Flash site, there will be a Flash box greyed out. Click on the Flash Icon and it will NOT render Flash. Meaning, it doesn’t work! Frash isn’t optimized for iPad 2 yet, just like some apps from Cydia that isn’t compatible with Jailbroken iPad 2. You’ll just have to wait for the updated to Frash.

I also tried to install Frash on the iPad 1st Gen with iOS 4.3.3 and it doesn’t work either. Looks like Frash needs to be updated to work with 4.3.3. The error you get will be Unexpected Error or _abort() food.c:43

Update August 27th, 2010: Frash version 0.0.2 from a different source from Cydia works better than from my earlier post. First, uninstall 0.0.1 then add this source to Cydia. Http://repo.benm.at. Then look for frash and install the 11.6mb file. Once installed, you might need to reboot your iPad, or not, either way, try it on your Safari on your iPad and click on the word Flash to run that Flash Banner or Games. My recommendation is, avoid clicking more than two flash at a time, otherwise Safari will kick you out.

Update August 10th, 2010: Frash works on both the iPad Wifi and iPad Wifi+3G. You have to let your iPad Safari Browser sit on the flash site for a little bit, about 30 seconds till it loads. Then click on Play button if you are in Pogo.com to play a game.

Update August 3rd, 2010: Frash was installed on my WiFi version of the iPad and looks like it’s working. Limited sites though. I tried video sites with flash, that didn’t work. I tried a website that is hard core flash sites, that didn’t work either. Facebook games, no luck either.

Original Post:
I downloaded from Cydia by adding a new source from iWooWiz at http:\\repo.woowiz.net in Cydia. Then look for Frash. From there, install Frash and restart your iPad.

After I restarted my iPad, I then browse to a Flash based site. But it doesn’t work! It would show the big Flash logo on the site but when I clicked on it, it would display the message; “Could not Connect: Connection Refused”. I haven’t tried on my iPad Wi-Fi version, but I would think it would be the same fate as my iPad 3G.

Seems like Frash by Comex isn’t ready yet, and since this was a leak by someone other than Comex, it’s not official.
