Installous Download Folder has Changed

If you haven’t noticed, but Installous Download Folder has Changed. This is in relation to your iDevice Jailbroken. If you upgraded your iDevice OS to iOS 5.x for iPhone and for iPad, most likely, Installous is updated as well to latest version of 4.2. Previous version of Installous Download Folder is also described at the end of this page.

The findings are for iPhone 4/S with iOS 4.x and 5.x and iPod Touch 4th Gen with iOS 4.x and above and iPad with iOS 4.x and iOS 5.x or older generation of iDevices with Installous version 4.2 and up.

The latest download folder for Installous download folder 4.4.2 below:

/private/var/mobile/Documents/Installous/Downloads/

The previous version of Installous below, incase you need it:

Previous Folder was /private/var/mobile/Media/Downloads/

So why do you need to know this? I use the website AppTrackr.org and then install OpenSSH in Cydia, then download WinSCP for my PC on Windows Vista and Windows 7. All these combination to get an App without Installous so you don’t have to leave your iPad or iPhone Powered On while downloading an app from Installous.

First go to AppTrackr website
If you already have OpenSSH, then all you need is to find out your IP Address of your iPad or iPhone or iPod Touch.
Use WinSCP for your PC or any SFTP Program and Log in to your iDevice via the IP address of your iDevice.

Then drag the file you want to WinSCP to the installous download folder described above.
Go to your Installous App on your iDevice, then click on the Download button and you will see all the app that you transferred via WinSCP.

This works with iOS 4.3.3, iOS 5.0.1 on the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 4, iPad 1 and iPad 2 with Installous version 4.4.2.

*This is for jailbroken iDevices such as iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.

You dont need all of these…

The enough thing to do is ; opening safari with AppTrackr.org , download your wanted application using SAVE TO option, then you may choose a directory…

You should put it in installous downloaded folder, which means you have to “go back” couple of times, since you cant get to /private/ folder, you’ll be “rooted” under /private/var/ already.
Then enter /documents/ and afterwards /installous/ and lastly ; /downloads/ folder, save it there, and look into your downloaded programs in installous…

You shall see your program there ready for install.

    Cheers!

Ron, there is no Save To option, I tried it on my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4. Is this option after you click on the link from AppTrackr where you are about to download? Instead, it automatically saves it to /var/mobile/Library/Downloads and Installous does not have the option to browse to that folder.
