I had to send an email in regards to How To Downgrade your Blackberry Bold OS in case your upgrade to Beta OS is not satisfactory after use. This is an instruction if your Blackberry is still usable. If not, that is a different method. This method is only for downgrading your Blackberry Bold OS to the original AT&T Provided Blackberry OS.

How to downgrade for your Bold.

Unplug your Blackberry from your PC if it’s plugged in, if not, follow the next step.

Close your Blackberry Desktop Manager

1. Go to File Explorer and go to a Folder called Program Files
2. Under Program Files, go to Common Files Folder
3. Under Common Files Folder, go to Research In Motion
4. Under Research In Motion, go to AppLoader

Delete the file Vendor.xml or if you Vendor. There is only one Vendor. This is essential, otherwise, Blackberry Desktop Manager will think that there is nothing to upgrade/downgrade

If you use the same PC to upgrade your Bold, you need to uninstall that Upgraded Blackberry OS on that PC:
1. Go to Control Panel
2. Add/Remove Programs
3. Scroll Down to Blackberry Device Software v4.6.0 for the BlackBerry 9000 smartphone
4. Click on Remove button
5. Go to the download link from below.

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=577BCC914F9E55D5E4E4F82F9F00E7D4

1. On the Pull Down, select BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9000 smartphone
2. Click on Next
3. Scroll Down to the bottom
4. Click on the Software Download link under BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.298 (Multilanguage)
5. Open Desktop Manager
6. Plug in your Blackberry to the USB Port
7. It will automatically ask you to update.
8. Follow the instruction from there, it should take 45 minutes to an hour.

That’s it.

This method is similar for any other Blackberry. Use with caution for other model of Blackberry. I’m not responsible for any damages during the downgrade of your Blackberry Bold as well.

  1. No need to wipe. Just uninstall the OS you want to get rid on your PC that you use to upgrade your BlackBerry with and delete the vendor.xml (instruction in this post) and that’s it. It’s basically like upgrading the OS but just reversed.

  2. I have a question, why do other sites tell you to wipe your blackberry totally with programs.
Do you have to wipe it?
What happens if I dont wipe it?
